Wartook Dam

The client is committed to safety of its dams and has established a continuous program of dam monitoring in comply with ANCOLD Guidelines on Dam Safety Management (2003). Existing 16 Vibrating Wire Piezometers have been installed for almost 30 years in the embankments within the site to measure pore water pressure.

Readings are measured by outdated VW Piezometer and Datalogger system which prone to noise (unwanted signal). This practice becoming ineffective and inaccurate to date due to malfunctioning of trenching cables and IT communication issues. These impede data transmission from vibrating wire piezometers to gateway. It is also possible that the instruments are approaching the end of their lifespan.

Geotesta had proposed an effective solution to the Client; Investigate and identify the source of abnormalities in the reading of the Vibrating Wire Piezometers that cause inaccurate and unreliable pore water pressure measurements. A customized analyzer used to measure pore water pressure is called Vibrating Wire Analyzer.
