Latrobe Valley Battery Energy Storage System (LVBESS)

The LVBESS site is located east of the decommissioned Hazelwood Rehabilitation Project and Morwell Power Station. Following the fire event in 2014, a pit lake was proposed to stabilize the mine void and surrounding areas, ensuring safety from severe ground movement and the risk of recurring fires.

Geotesta was engaged by the client to provide an effective solution for monitoring ground settlement and deformation over a 20-month period. Geotesta successfully supplied, installed, and commissioned four settlement plates and two sets of inclinometer casings. Inclinometer and settlement surveys are conducted monthly, covering pre-construction, during construction, and end-of-construction phases, continuing until October 2025.
